Corporate Sponsorship

What is Corporate Sponsorship?

Corporate Sponsorship is an opportunity for businesses to connect with SLP Nerdcast’s listeners and audience.  Funding generated by SLP Nerdcast’s Corporate Sponsors supports our free library of courses related to diversity, equity and inclusion, keeps our course pricing as low as possible, and supports the work of our team and other researchers, academics, guests, and lecturers who participate in our publications.

What’s the difference between a Corporate Sponsorship and an Ad?

To learn more about Corporate Sponsorship we turned to our governing body, the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).  According to ASHA, the difference is rooted in the general purpose of banner, logo, image, or posting.  The following was taken direction from the ASHA Website:

  • Advertising is a call to action. It's calling something (product or service or recruitment) to the attention of the public to help sell a product or to make an announcement.

  • Sponsorship is a heightened branding opportunity offered to companies or organizations in order to augment their exposure. Sponsorship increases the visibility of a company through visibility opportunities (signage, footprints, digital billboards, logo placement, etc.)

SLP Nerdcast does not offer formal advertising opportunities.

The SLP Nerdcast Corporate Sponsorship Policy

Corporate Sponsorship at SLP Nerdcast is designed for small and clinician owned businesses  to create relationships with SLP Nerdcast’s listeners and audience members, connecting clinicians with other clinician created / owned resources.  While larger businesses and corporations also participate in SLP Nerdcast Corporate Sponsorship, all sponsors, regardless of funding size, are funneled through the same vetting and application process. Corporate Sponsorship for podcast episodes lasts up to 5 years, at the discretion of the Sponsor. Corporate Sponsors provide funding, but do not contribute in any way to course planning, in line with the American Speech and Hearing Association’s Continuing Education Board (ASHA CEB) requirements.  You can read more about the SLP Nerdcast’s Corporate Sponsorship Policy here.

Examples of sponsorship:

  • Branding on digital course marketing materials

  • Branding on main website pages and landing pages

  • Pre-roll messaging read aloud prior to the beginning of a podcast episode

  • Branding on a social media post

SLP Nerdcast is a division of Grandbois Therapy and Consulting, LLC, a for-profit company. Corporate Sponsorships are not tax deductible.

How do you become an SLP Nerdcast Corporate Sponsor?

An entity interested in becoming a Corporate Sponsor must submit all materials for review prior to being accepted for sponsorship.  Materials are then reviewed by the SLP Nerdcast Managing Director and Directors.  Materials submitted are closely examined for a variety of variables that create conflicts of interest, such as efficacy claims, the perception of endorsement, undisclosed financial relationships, etc.

SLP Nerdcast requires Corporate Sponsors to sign a contract agreeing to our Corporate Sponsorship terms, policies, and procedures. In addition, the sponsorship contract specifically states that any Corporate Sponsor shall not use SLP Nerdcast’s intellectual property in such a manner that implies or suggests that SLP Nerdcast endorses the Sponsor’s products or services.
